Meta. Morph
Una Burke creates sculptural pieces and armor like accessories. Her new collection Meta. Morph is based on the physical alteration of the body and the psychological impact of prosthetic limbs and medical braces. The Irish designer from Knockvicar has collaborated with photographer Andreas Waldschütz, creative director Adia Trischler and collodion wetplate photographer Stefan Sappert to develop her concept through a series of both beautiful and unsettling images. Her hand crafted leather pieces are wearable art forms, which restrict and contort the human form and expose a fragile mind. Challenging stuff perhaps, but Una has been embraced by the fashion world, with icons Daphne Guinness and Lady Gaga wearing her pieces and support from leading fashion figures including stylist Nicola Formichetti, photographer Nick Knight, Vogue Italia, I-D and Numero magazine. Una is another remarkable Irish designer making her mark on the world stage.
